Tearsa Nelson,
Country Financial
I believe in the power of perseverance and rising to the challenges life offers every day. I’ve served the community for many years in several different areas, but being Co-Chair with Amber is one of my greatest honors.
I’ve lived in this Valley for most of my life and the people here matter to me. I love this area and I deeply care about the people who choose to live here. I’m a Country Financial Insurance Agent and am licensed in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Iowa for all lines of insurance. When you call me, I understand you’re in need and I do everything in my power to help you so that you’re taken care of in the hours you need it the most.
The women in my mom’s family have a long history of breast cancer. I have friends who have lost children to brain cancer. My husband’s parent both had cancer. The list goes on and on. We all know people, neighbors, friends, and acquaintances, who have been through or who are currently fighting to battle cancer. What if I could help change that? Well, that’s why I’m here, to do what I can because this is a fight I’ve been preparing for my entire life.
Amber Glasser,
General Manager, Everett’s at Mat-Su Resort
My name is Amber Glasser, I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. I’m honored to be nominated as a candidate for the Alaska CHARR board. My personal mission aligns with Alaska Charr’s mission of advancing, serving, and protecting Alaska’s hospitality and foodservice industry. I’m extremely passionate about helping our industry thrive and creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
Culture, positive environments and healthy conversations within our communities and industries is imperative for the change we’d like to see. I’m the Director of Operations at the Mat-Su Resort and Everett’s restaurant in Wasilla, Alaska. I started as general manager three years ago. We have been working very hard to create an exceptional dining experience and to be a gathering place where all are welcome. I’m on the UAA culinary advisory committee as well as a board member for Matsu Charr. I’m co-chair on the planning committee for the taste of hope fundraising event for the American cancer society. In addition to that I’ve worked hundreds of large events over the years and raised thousands of dollars for nonprofits. I’ve worked at many well-known Anchorage restaurants with Simon & Seafort’s being my home for over ten years, that restaurant helped cultivate some amazing friendships and professional relationships that I’m forever grateful for.
My biggest accomplishment is being a mother and wife. Our children are both at Redington junior & senior high school and my husband owns and operates his business Greatland Gifts. We are an Alaskan family through and through. When we’re not busy working the businesses, we are out moose hunting, dip netting, berry picking, or taking the boat out.
